Blue Mountains is a World-Heritage region, west of Sydney. It is known for its stunning natural beauty and scenery. With majestic mountains, cliffs, numerous waterfalls and cascades, it is one of the most visited places in NSW.

This is not just a usual national park. It surprised us how it does not have clearly defined boundaries. It is a very beautiful place, that is rich in unique flora and fauna.

Blue Mountains after sunset

Blue Mountains are most certainly not called blue for nothing. As a matter of fact, the blue colour comes from the eucalyptus trees which release droplets of oil into the air. These droplets interact with small particles of dust and water, creating beautiful blue haze around the distant mountains. You can see phenomenon during sunset.

How to get to Blue Mountains

This beautiful mountain region is roughly 100km west of Sydney. You can reach it via motorway or public transport. There is no entry fee to the majority of the park. Although some places, like popular Echo Point, requires parking fees.

To sum up, this is one awesome place that we definitely recommend visiting at least once in a life time!
